Manufacturing special machines is not unknown territory for Fladder Danmark A/S.

In fact, we have produced a large number of machines for very different purposes – both within the wood and metal industries.

We recently received an inquiry from a German manufacturer of timber-framed houses.

They wanted a machine that could smooth the rough sawn surfaces and create varying, artificial beam edges in one pass.

It was a challenge that we chose to accept and a first test on a simple setup showed that we could meet the customer's wishes.

A large batch of timber was sent to us
and we started developing and building
the machine.

We chose a sectional structure with 3 sections – A, B and C.

The machine is designed with large sliding doors that ensure the best possible access to the machine’s interior for tool changes, service
and cleaning.

The first section is equipped with programmable milling modules that can mill the desired beam edges on 1, 2, 3 or all 4 corners.

The next 2 sections are equipped with
sanding modules where our lock-itTM spindles are
mounted with Ø400 FLADDER® abrasive
cylinders, that can smooth the 4 flat sides.

Each processing unit rests on a movable arm
guided by an actuator that determines the unit’s
position in relation to the workpiece
.

Workpieces are fed and supported by driven rollers that provide the necessary space for machining the workpiece’s surface and edges
from all angles - in one pass!

According to the customer's request, the machine
is delivered
with programming options, but where
the control panel is also equipped with a program
selector, so changing programs is uncomplicated.

The machine was delivered at the end of 2024 and is now in operation at the company.
